This two day programme is aimed at Senior Leaders to enable reflection and action planning around whole-school approaches to mental health provision.


The Leading a Mentally Healthy School training programme was funded by Health Education England (HEE) and created by the School Development Support Agency (SDSA) in partnership with an expert group of educational psychologists, education consultants and mental health organisations.

Code: REA-798 Newly Qualified Teacher Programme (Langtons Junior Academy)

Our NQT programme offers a high quality, professional development journey for teachers at the start of their career. The programme has been designed with Specialist Leaders of Education across our alliance to support NQTs in developing the quality and impact of their practice.

Our comprehensive 12-session programme provides a reflective and supportive environment to nurture and grow potential. Facilitators are highly skilled, experienced classroom practitioners who will develop NQTs’ understanding and practice through a programme which provides:

  • Opportunities to observe and discuss good and outstanding lessons within the host school
  • Practical resources to adapt and use in the classroom
  • Access to outstanding practitioners for Q&A around each focus area
  • Opportunities to network and liaise with peers and other professionals
  • Reflection time and action-planning

Content:


Session 1: ORIENTATION: Sets out the expectations for the programme and explores the NQT journey

Session 2: SETTING UP FOR SUCCESS: Focuses on establishing positive relationships to help to manage behaviour and create a classroom climate that promotes successful learning

Session 3: KNOWING YOUR LEARNERS: Investigates the importance of differentiation as one of the cornerstones of effective teaching and learning

Session 4: ASSESSEMENT FOR LEARNING: Explores how AFL underpins the planning cycle and presents a range of methods to enhance classroom practice

Session 5: MARVELOUS MATHS: Explores how to create enjoyable and meaningful maths lessons that engage and challenge all learners

Session 6: READ ALL ABOUT IT: Investigates different approaches to teaching reading and phonics that equip children with the skills to become fluent and passionate readers

Session 7: THE WRITE STUFF: Focuses on different approaches to teaching writing that provide children with the knowledge and understanding necessary to become skilled and inspired writers

Session 8: SEND –ASD: Develops knowledge and understanding of the needs of ASD learners and how to adapt teaching methods and the classroom environment to meet these needs

Session 9: SEND – SPEECH AND LANGUAGE: Develops teachers’ awareness of speech and language difficulties and how best to create a speech and language friendly classroom as well as differentiate activities for learners with speech and language needs

Session 10: BEHAVIOUR 101: Provides a chance to explore solutions to dealing with behaviour issues which NQTs may be struggling with

Session 11: NEXT STEPS ON THE LEADERSHIP LADDER: Explores the importance of all teachers as leaders of learning and investigates the skills needed to lead a foundation subject

Session 12: CELEBRATION: An opportunity to celebrate the learning journey that NQTs have experienced over the course of the programme and a chance to look forward to the year ahead
